Belgian international striker Christian Benteke will ask to leave Liverpool and their bitter rivals down the East Lancs Road could make a surprise move for him according to Indykaila sources.
The players omission from Sunday’s League Cup Final was a clear indication from manager Jurgen Klopp, that he feels the 25-year-old is not the right fit for his Liverpool team and the exit door beckons in the summer. To add more intrigue to the story, it’s also reported that Manchester United have already made enquiries into his availability and could be lining up a shock move to try to revitalise the players career in England.
Benteke joined the Merseyside club last summer for £32.5 million pounds, but since Klopp replaced Brendan Rogers in the Anfield hot-seat, has found it hard to stake his claim in the starting XI. His goals record has suffered as a result, having found the net just six times in 22 league appearances this season.
With Euro 2016 just around the corner, the former Aston Villa front-man will be anxious that his lack of playing time could seriously jeopardise his chances of spear-heading his country’s attack in France. For now though, it’s his club future that remains firmly in the balance.
