Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is preparing for the possible departure of Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer, by making enquiries for Inter number one Samir Handanovic.
The journal is convinced that the current Italian national team coach will head back to the peninsula to pick up the Slovenian international. The 31-year-old recently signed a new deal at the San Siro after being given assurances that the club would receive new investment in order to remain competitive both domestically and in Europe. With Champions League qualification for next season now impossible and prospective Chinese investors still mulling over a possible takeover deal, the player looks likely to seek a move away from Serie A.
Courtois stated this week that he is 100% happy at Stamford Bridge, but rumours persist that he will hop across the English channel to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
