According to Foot Mercato, Wolfsburg are ready to table a bid for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
The 29-year-old Frenchman is believed to be one of the names on manager Arsene Wenger’s departure list this summer, as the Gunners look to re-shape their squad ahead of next season. The Bundesliga club are set to throw him a lifeline and are prepared to offer the North Londoners around £5 million to take him to Germany.
Having just ripped up the contract of former Arsenal frontman Nicklas Bendtner, Wolfsburg have a vacancy in their forward line and it could be about to be filled by another Gunners striker. The German’s are also reportedly prepared to pay Giroud £5 million a season for his services and could even face competition from Italy, with newly crowned Serie A champions Juventus also making enquiries as to his availability.
His 20 goals in all competitions this season is actually his second best tally in an Arsenal shirt, but his infuriatingly inconsistent form and time spent on the treatment table, are enough to leave Wenger seeking replacements.
